Lionsgate is moving quickly after MICHAEL became the highest grossing music biopic of all time, with the studio already holding discussions with the returning creative team and working around director Antoine Fuqua’s schedule.
The sequel is expected to continue beyond the 1987 BAD Tour while also revisiting important moments that were left out of the first film. Lionsgate says approximately 25 to 30 percent of the next chapter may already have been filmed, with albums such as DANGEROUS and some of Michael Jackson’s biggest songs still waiting to be explored.
The first movie ended by promising that his story would continue, and the next chapter is already preparing to deliver the music, performances and later years that could never fit inside one film.
