Marvel Officially Announces ‘Black Panther III’ at Comic-Con
Marvel Studios has officially announced Black Panther III during its Hall H presentation at San Diego Comic-Con, confirming that director Ryan Coogler will return to helm the third installment of the blockbuster franchise. The studio also revealed that British actor David Jonsson has been cast as the new Black Panther, portraying the grown-up T’Challa II, the son of the late King T’Challa. The film is scheduled for release on December 15, 2028.
The announcement was made in the presence of Coogler, Jonsson, Letitia Wright and Winston Duke, who are all set to return. The storyline follows the events of Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, where Nakia revealed that she and T’Challa had a son, setting the stage for the next chapter in Wakanda’s legacy.
Marvel’s reveal was one of the biggest highlights of Comic-Con 2026, with fans cheering the introduction of a new Black Panther and the continuation of one of the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s most celebrated franchises.
