WERWULF

WERWULF officially arrives Christmas Day, December 25, and Robert Eggers is preparing to close 2026 with what could be one of the year’s biggest and darkest horror events. Focus Features is already calling it Eggers’ “most visceral and haunting experience yet,” with the first official trailer now out.
Set in England in 1305, the film follows a mute farmer cursed to transform into a murderous werewolf with every full moon. When the king sends a hunting party to wipe out wolves and forces him to join them, he has to hide the monster inside him while desperately trying to protect his family and save what remains of his soul.
Aaron Taylor Johnson leads an incredible cast alongside Lily Rose Depp, Willem Dafoe and Ralph Ineson, reuniting Eggers with several members of his NOSFERATU family. Eggers also co wrote the film with Sjón, continuing the obsessive historical detail and deeply unsettling folklore that made THE WITCH, THE LIGHTHOUSE and NOSFERATU feel unlike anything else in modern horror.
A medieval curse, full moon transformations, brutal folklore and Robert Eggers unleashed on werewolves. Horror already gave us an insane 2026, and somehow WERWULF is waiting until Christmas Day to deliver one final nightmare.
