COAS Visits Emir Of Zazzau, Seeks Stronger Traditional Partnership Against Insecurity

The Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lieutenant General Waidi Shaibu, has paid a strategic courtesy visit to the Emir of Zazzau, His Royal Highness Ahmed Nuhu Bamali, CFR, as part of efforts to strengthen collaboration between the Nigerian Army and traditional institutions in tackling insecurity.

The visit, which took place at the Emir’s Palace in Zaria, Kaduna State, underscored the Nigerian Army’s commitment to deepening civil-military relations and enhancing community-based support for ongoing security operations across the country.

During the engagement, the Army Chief commended the Zazzau Emirate for its continued support to military operations and emphasized the critical role traditional rulers play in promoting peace, unity, and stability within their communities.

Lieutenant General Shaibu noted that traditional institutions remain key partners in intelligence gathering, community engagement, and mobilizing local support against terrorism, banditry, kidnapping, and other security threats.

The visit also provided an opportunity to reinforce cooperation between the military and traditional authorities as part of broader efforts to strengthen national security and improve trust between security agencies and local communities.

The Nigerian Army said the engagement reflects its recognition of the important role traditional rulers play in building resilient communities and supporting intelligence-driven operations aimed at restoring peace and stability across the country.
