NEC Approves N83.2bn To Combat Flooding, Boost Climate Resilience
The National Economic Council (NEC), chaired by Vice President Kashim Shettima, has approved N83.2 billion for interventions by the Anticipatory Action Task Force (AATF) to reduce the impact of anticipated flooding and other climate-related emergencies across Nigeria.
The approval followed a presentation by the Minister of State for Budget and Economic Planning, Doris Uzoka-Anite, highlighting the need for proactive measures to address recurring flood disasters, especially during the rainy season.
The Council also urged state governments to collaborate with the Federal Government in removing logistical and regulatory obstacles preventing Nigerian agricultural produce from accessing international markets.
The move is expected to strengthen disaster preparedness, protect vulnerable communities, and improve Nigeria’s agricultural export potential.
